A prestigious international recognition for the University of Turin and the School of Minimally Invasive Surgery

Prof. Alberto Arezzo, Distinguished Full Professor at the University of Turin, Head of the Colorectal MDT at A.O.U. Città della Salute e della Scienza di Torino, and Director of the MITIC – Minimally Invasive Therapy and Innovation Centre, has been appointed President Elect of the EAES – European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, the largest European society dedicated to minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

This prestigious appointment celebrates Prof. Arezzo’s leadership in advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques and his commitment to innovation, education, and research at an international level.

“I am truly honored by this appointment, which I see as a further recognition of the School of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Turin,” said Prof. Arezzo. “I witnessed the birth of EAES more than 30 years ago, and it has been a constant source of clinical and scientific inspiration for me, to the extent that I have involved it in nearly all the numerous Horizon Projects I was fortunate to have funded by the European Commission, including the ERC Synergy Grant aimed at redesigning the technology and applications of Endoscopic Surgery. I hope my appointment will be equally inspiring for younger surgeons, for whom I will continue to work.”

This achievement strengthens the role of the University of Turin and the MITIC Centre as international leaders in the field of minimally invasive and robotic surgery, fostering innovation and training the next generation of surgeons.
